The police in Assin-Praso, Central Region, are actively searching for a teen father accused of poisoning his 10-day-old baby boy with weedicide. The baby, alive as of October 22, is receiving treatment at the Presbyterian Hospital in Assin-Praso. The mother, Esther Baah, 16, revealed that they initially planned to kill the baby due to the challenges of raising a child while pursuing education. However, she changed her mind after experiencing the hardships of pregnancy and childbirth. The suspect, Godfred Nelson (Paa Akwasi), a 19-year-old SHS three student, unwittingly continued with the plan, leading to the poisoning incident.

The baby’s grandfather reported the discovery of foamy substance and liquid stains, prompting swift medical intervention. Nelson, upon learning of the situation, fled. The suspect’s mother has urged the police to arrest him for legal consequences, expressing her dismay at his actions.
