At a night honouring excellence, the 14th edition of the Grow, Unite, Build, Africa (GUBA) Awards saw many deserving personalities receive honours

A-list personalities added equity to the 2023 edition of the Grow, Unite, Build, Africa (GUBA) Awards with their presence over the weekend at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, UK.

Singer and three-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo, award-winning Ghanaian actress Ama K Abebrese, business founder Anthony Dzamefe, and hip-hop/Afrobeat musician D-Black were some notable personalities who graced the prestigious event.

This year’s event was hosted by the renowned media star Anita Erskine, aided by co-hosts Paul Carrick Brunson and James Sherwood.


The 2023 GUBA Awards celebrated historical heroes/heroines under the Honouring Beacons of Excellence and Inspiration theme. The event conveyed the power of determination, focus, and unity, marking the best of diversity and the achievements of role models and community organisations worldwide.

2023 Orlando Urban Film Festival

In a previous story, reported that a Ghanaian crew received the Best Short Film award at the just-ended Orlando Urban Film Festival (OUFF) in Florida in the United States of America.

Their thrilling short film titled Otokunor earned them the honour at the prestigious event.

Otokunor, a film shot in Jamestown and directed by Kwame Kyei Baffour, premiered at the Independent Shorts Awards on July 23, then in Los Angeles (USA ) before moving on to Orlando, Florida, and other countries, per Graphic Online.

Ghanaian designer wins Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year award

Meanwhile, reported that Ghanaian fashion designer Joseph Aggrey Cobbina received fashion Entrepreneur of the Year recognition at the just-ended 2023 Ghana Entrepreneurs Choice Summit Dinner and Awards.

The maiden edition of the event came off at the Sunlodge Hotel on Saturday, July 8, 2023.

The founder and chief executive officer of Smully Wear posted impressive images from the ceremony, where he received the honour.
