Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, has sounded a clarion call to Ghana’s next government to tackle the country’s pressing socio-economic challenges head-on. With the general election just around the corner on December 7, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized the urgent need to reverse negative trends in the economy and natural environment.

 

 

Key Challenges to Address:

He further three critical areas that require immediate attention from politicians:

__Economic Revitalization__: Prioritizing economic growth and development to get Ghana back on track.

– __Anti-Corruption Measures__: Intensifying efforts to combat corruption, which has been a persistent problem.

– __Job Creation__: Implementing strategies to address unemployment and create jobs for the youth.

 

 

Call for Constitutional Review.

Togbe Afede XIV also advocated for a review of the current constitution to ensure it aligns with Ghana’s developmental needs. He therefore,stressed the importance of a change in attitude among the general populace, recognizing that the country’s current situation is a result of past actions and inactions, including apathy towards corruption.

 

 

*Ensuring Peaceful Elections*

To maintain peace and tranquillity in the country, Togbe Afede also urged the Electoral Commission to ensure a free and fair electoral process, respecting the people’s mandate and choices.

 

 

*Ending Illegal Mining*

Furthermore, he called for an end to illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, citing its devastating impact on the environment.
